The two day SIOP training is filled to capacity. There will be
no on site registration for the two day SIOP training.
Space is still available for the administrators' session on
July 16th and the refresher and coaches' sessions on July 17th.
Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol: The SIOP ® Model,
July 16 AND 17, 2013

This intensive two-day institute will provide administrators, general, ESL and bilingual education
teachers with a comprehensive training in the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol: The SIOP® Model.
Through active discussion and engaging demonstration activities, participants will learn how to implement the
SIOP ® Model. A third session will be provided virtually during the school year. Books are included in the registration fee.
A One-Day Sheltered Instruction Refresher,

Many school districts have teachers who have been trained in the Sheltered Instruction Model.
Yet many of these same teachers have been asking for an opportunity to refresh and strengthen
their knowledge and skills. An update of sheltered instruction strategies through application
of interactive techniques will be modeled.
Sheltered Instruction for Administrators
July 16, 2013 ONLY
Presenters: Barbara Tedesco and Elizabeth Franks, LLAMAME, LLC
This workshop is designed for administrators with teachers who have been or will be trained in the Sheltered Instruction model.
Administrators will gain a better understanding of how to support the teachers with fidelity of implementation to the model.
In addition, administrators will be shown how the model intersects with the teacher evaluation models.
Sheltered Instruction for Coaches July 17, 2013 ONLY
Presenters: Eva Rogozinska and Jory Samkoff, Clifton Public Schools
This session is for districts which want to build capacity and utilize teachers who have been trained in the Sheltered Instruction model.
Sheltered Instruction coaches support colleagues as they implement the model. Strategies and tools for co-teaching are will be provided.
Both Eva and Jory were trained by the Center for Applied Linguistics and have been SIOP coaches for the Clifton Public Schools for over 8 years.
Continental breakfast and mid-morning refreshments will be provided
Professional Development Hours: NJTESOL/NJBE is a New Jersey
registered provider. Participants will be able to earn professional development
hours for attending the conference day or days of their choice.
