Vice-President's Message

By Sandee McHugh-McBride

As vice-president of our wonderful organization, I look forward to the many experiences that lie ahead.  One principle responsibility of the vice-president is to be Spring Conference Chair. Cassy Lawrence, our current president, will be a hard act to follow. She did a great job with our Spring Conference last May. We thank you for the many accolades and suggestions that you have sent to us; we appreciate your input.

As we look toward next year’s Spring Conference, you may be interested in sharing some of your innovative ideas for successful lessons and strategies in your classrooms.  If you would like to share at our conference, but may be hesitant to present a workshop alone, you may want to consider getting together with a colleague and presenting a workshop, so please keep that in mind. We are always happy to consider new workshop presenters.

In addition, remember to take advantage of the workshops that are available in November at the NJEA Convention in Atlantic City. We are also happy to provide another mini-conference on October 20 in the southeastern part of our state:

The NJTESOL/NJBE Fall Conference: Bilingual Learners & Special NeedsSaturday, 8:30 am-1:30 pm, Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, Galloway, NJ.

Watch our website for upcoming events.  I look forward to seeing you.

Sandee McHugh-McBride
Vice-President, NJTESOL/NJBE
