My name is Anna and I come from Ukraine. I finished high school in my country and came to the United States four years ago. After finding out that I didn’t need any SAT scores to get into Bergen Community College and that it wasn’t expensive, I decided to study art there.        First, I had to take Grammar, Reading and Writing Level III of the American Language Program. At that time I wasn’t very excited about it because I didn’t realize how much it could help me. Not only did the ALP program allow me, an international student, to gain necessary reading and writing skills, but it also helped me to deal with culture shock by giving me the confidence that I sometimes lacked.        After completing ALP, I took regular courses, and in the summer of 2006, I graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Graphic Design.
